DUSHANBE. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, who took part in a special session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Tuesday evening, has urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to resume political and diplomatic efforts towards the resolution of bilateral problems, the Tajik national news agency Khovar said on Wednesday.
According to the news agency, Rasulzoda attended and addressed the meeting on the orders from Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
"In his speech, the prime minister of the Republic of Tajikistan expressed Tajikistan's concern with the latest events - the clashes between the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijani Republic. The importance of preventing further escalation of tensions and the soonest resumption of political and diplomatic settlement efforts under the current circumstances was stressed," the news agency said.
Rasulzoda said that the only way to ensure peace and stability in the region is the effective dialogue based on the earlier documents.
The CSTO Collective Security Council had a special virtual session on Tuesday evening at the request of Armenian Prime Minister, Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council Nikol Pashinyan.
