CSTO Joint Staff task group arrives in Yerevan - Armenian defense minister

YEREVAN. Sept 16 (Interfax) - A task group of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Joint Staff has arrived in Yerevan, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan said.

"A task group of the CSTO Joint Staff has arrived in Armenia this evening to carry out a monitoring mission [on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border] in accordance with the decision adopted by the CSTO Collective Security Council. The group is led by Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Col. Gen. Anatoly Sidorov," Papikyan said on social media.

During the meeting with Sidorov, the situation that has unfolded since September 13 due to Azerbaijan's actions, as well as the tasks associated with the upcoming monitoring mission were presented, he said.

"I hope that the group will carry out effective work and present a detailed and accurate report to the CSTO Collective Security Council on the current operational situation. In the coming days, the task group will perform relevant work in the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces and in the areas of hostilities," Papikyan said.
