MOSCOW. Sep 16 (Interfax) - The forward group of a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mission deployed to Armenia will elaborate proposals on how to de-escalate tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the CSTO Joint Staff said in a statement.
"The mission is tasked with elaborating proposals on how to de-escalate the existent tensions," the Staff said.
"There are plans to study and monitor the current situation in particular border areas and to hold working meetings with the heads of the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces General Staff of Armenia, the Russian embassy to Armenia, the Russian Federal Security Service's border department in Armenia, and the command of the 102nd Russian military base," it said.
As reported earlier, the CSTO mission's forward group led by Col. Gen. Anatoly Sidorov arrived in Armenia on Thursday to assess the current situation, the Staff said.
