Russian corvette conducts missile firing practice during Baltic exercise

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The corvette Stoiky has conducted an exercise with a combat launch of an air defense missile from a Redut system in the Baltic Sea, Russia's Baltic Fleet stated on Tuesday.

"While on duty at sea, the Stoiky corvette crew fulfilled the task of repelling a missile strike on a complex air target imitating an anti-ship missile of a mock enemy," the statement said.

To do it, the crew used a Redut naval air defense missile system, it said.

"The air defense missile launched from the corvette successfully hit the designated target. The shooting practice was carried out in a complex jamming environment with the mock enemy employing electronic warfare," the statement said.

The missile-target was launched from the Passat small missile ship, it said.
