ROSTOV-ON-DON. Sept 28 (Interfax) - All votes have been counted in the Kherson regional referenda, and 87.05% of the population has supported the region's secession from Ukraine and entry into the Russian Federation, the regional elections commission said.
"The referendum question 'Do you agree with the Kherson region's secession from Ukraine, the establishment of the Kherson region as an independent state, and its accession to the Russian Federation as a constituent territory' was answered 'yes' by 497,051 referendum participants. This is more than 50% of referendum participants. The question, which was positively answered by more than half of listed referendum participants, is deemed to be approved," regional elections commission head Marina Zakharova said.
According to the regional elections commission, 571,001 people, or 76.86% of listed voters, cast their ballots in the referendum.
The commission members unanimously voted for declaring the referendum valid and confirmed the voting results.
