Kazakh Foreign Ministry considering its diplomats' evacuation from Kiev

ASTANA. Oct 11 (Interfax) - The Kazakh Foreign Ministry is considering fully evacuating its embassy staff from Ukraine, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov said.

"The embassy is also working now. The idea is not to close the embassy but to evacuate the employees of our embassy. This issue will be decided within the next few days. The evacuation is most likely to be full," Smadiyarov said in response to reporters' question in Astana on Tuesday.

It is not yet known where Kazakh diplomats will be evacuated to, he said.

Information about the number of Kazakh citizens currently in Ukraine is being verified, he said.

"This figure varies because of the latest developments. As you have seen, our embassy to Ukraine published a report yesterday in order to help them somehow in this situation. Many people left during the first evacuation. Possibly, some of them returned. That's why, I cannot give you an exact figure," he said.

Kazakhstan's embassy in Kiev on Monday called on Kazakh citizens to leave Ukraine if possible and urged those staying in the country to abide by safety measures.
