ROSTOV-ON-DON. Oct 14 (Interfax) - The Rostov region administration has expressed the readiness to admit over 1,700 residents of the Kherson region to 27 temporary accommodation centers.
"The region is ready to take in over 1,700 persons. [...] The information about the number of arriving persons is yet to be received," a representative of the Rostov regional ministry for regional policy and mass communications told reporters on Friday.
He told Interfax that over 4,200 persons, including 1,600 children, are currently staying at 38 temporary accommodation centers in the Rostov region.
Acting governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo asked the Russian administration to help relocate residents of the region to other regions of Russia.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that residents of the Kherson region would be provided with free accommodation in other parts of Russia.
Currently, Russian forces are almost fully in control of the Kherson region as a result of the special operation. A referendum held in the region on September 23-29 led to the Kherson region's secession from Ukraine and accession to Russia as a constituent territory.
