Armenian PM Pashinyan says he briefed Iranian president on results of trilateral meeting with Putin, Aliyev in Sochi

YEREVAN. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi met in Tehran on Tuesday to discuss Yerevan-Baku relations and the Karabakh settlement.

"We discussed issues on the regional agenda, and in this context I can see a large field for cooperation between Armenia and Iran. I told him about the outcomes of the trilateral meeting [of the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan] held yesterday in Sochi, and shared my impressions of the agenda of establishing stability and peace in the region," Pashinyan told a briefing conference that he attended together with Raisi, according to the Armenian government press service.

In his view, it is important that the Iranian partners be informed of the processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and between Armenia and Turkey with regard to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

Raisi said for his part that the establishment of stability and peace in the region "is of special importance for Iran."

"At the talks with the Armenian prime minister, we came to the conclusion that it is for regional countries and their leaders to solve regional problems. Any presence of foreign forces does not solve problems but only multiplies them. Regional cooperation will guarantee consistent and long-lasting peace between countries," the Iranian president said.
