MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic bombers of the Amur long-range air force formation have flown training missions in adverse weather, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"Pilots drilled takeoffs and landings, route and assigned zone flights, as well as interaction with mission control team amid low visibility, including at night, during missions," the ministry said on its Telegram channel.
"Pilots drilled mid-air refueling during the missions. The refueling took place at an altitude of over 6,000 meters at a speed of over 550 kilometers per hour. Engineers and technicians practiced elements of preparing aircraft for flights in conditions characteristic of the sharply continental climate, high atmospheric pressure and air humidity," the statement said.
"Young pilots who joined the crews as assistants to commanders and navigators," it said.
The ministry published images of a Tu-95MS taking off and landing, as well as mid-air refueling.
The Tu-95MS strategic bombers, along with the Tu-160, are a part of the Long-Range Aviation of the Russian Air and Space Forces. Long-range and strategic bombers are elements of Russia's nuclear triad.
