Magadan sub armed with Kalibr missiles back to Russia's Vladivostok from missile exercise

VLADIVOSTOK. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The Magadan diesel-electric submarine of the Russian Pacific Fleet armed with Kalibr cruise missiles is back to base in Vladivostok from a successful missile drill in the Sea of Japan, the fleet press service said in a statement on Monday.

"The sequence of actions undertaken to fire precision-guided missiles has been practiced in the course of the fulfillment of the training assignment," the statement said.

The crew fulfilled all the tasks having hit seaborne and ground-based targets with high precision, it said.

The Magadan diesel-electric submarine is the third sub of Project 636.3, capable of carrying Kalibr precision-guided cruise missiles. The Magadan joined the Russian Navy in October 2022 and raised the St. Andrew's flag.

The sub was redeployed from the Baltic Fleet to the Pacific Fleet along the Northern Sea Route in October 2022, having covered more than 9,000 nautical miles.
