Russian presidential administration not preparing for 2024 elections just yet - Peskov

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - It is too early for the Russian presidential administration to start preparing for the presidential election due in 2024, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

He thus responded to a request for comment on a statement by Russian Central Elections Commission (CEC) Chairperson Ella Pamfilova, who said that the CEC was preparing for the presidential election.

"Everyone knows that. This is a working process. The CEC is performing its functions," Peskov said.

There was a follow-up question on whether the presidential administration was doing similar work. "It is too early. The campaign has not begun. The Kremlin has lots of current affairs to deal with. The president has a very busy schedule and busy agenda," Peskov said.
