Kremlin says hoping to develop relations with Serbia despite Western pressure on Belgrade

MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - Serbia is experiencing colossal pressure yet Russia values relations with Belgrade and hopes for their development, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We are perfectly aware of the unprecedented pressure from the collective West experienced by the Serbian leadership. We also perfectly understand at what price and with what efforts the Serbian leadership has been withstanding this pressure so far," Peskov told reporters on Friday.

"We highly appreciate this stance of the Serbian leadership and hope that our bilateral relations will continue to grow," he said in response to a request for comment on a remark by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said that Belgrade might have to impose sanctions on Moscow at some point over the hostilities in Ukraine.
