Joint command of Belarusian-Russian regional group of forces drills territorial defense

MINSK. Feb 3 (Interfax) - The joint command of the regional group of forces stationed in Belarus has practiced organizing territorial defense during a joint command post exercise, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Friday.

"The participants practiced one of the options for making a decision on activating regional territorial defense during the command post exercise. The objectives set by the exercise commander were achieved and the tasks fulfilled," it said.

Officers of the Minsk regional military enlistment office's territorial defense division, deputy chief military enlistment officers and chiefs of territorial defense groups of district military enlistment offices, as well as members of operational groups of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee's interior affairs department, the Interior Ministry's Interior Troops, and the Minsk branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, took part in the exercise commanded by Belarusian general Staff Chief, First Deputy Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Viktor Gulevich.

It was reported earlier that the joint command of the regional group of troops (forces) started a joint command post exercise in Belarus on January 31. Earlier this week, representatives of the Russian and Belarusian Defense Ministries drilled joint planning of engaging forces based on the record of armed conflicts of recent years. It was reported that the joint training is aimed at enhancing the interoperability of Russian bad Belarusian command bodies as yet another stage in preparations for the Union Shield 2023 joint strategic exercise that will take pace in Russia in September 2023.
