Russian Deputy FM Ryabkov says no contacts on Ukraine between Russian, U.S. security services

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russian and U.S. security services are not discussing the situation in Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.

"No. I have no knowledge of such contacts," Ryabkov told journalists in Moscow as he commented at Interfax's request on last week's reports of an alleged visit of U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Director William Burns to Russia.

"In fact, it is not quite clear where such leaks come from and what is the purpose of the reports causing a wave of speculations. We have no dialogue on the subject of the special military operation, Ukraine with the Americans now, and there are no contacts on any tracks except for communication between representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Department of State, respectively, with the U.S. embassy in Moscow and the Russian embassy in Washington. There are sporadic phone calls at other levels. However, there are no meetings or any special format for holding consultations of the sort, at least, not currently," Ryabkov said.
