MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - The Gremyashchy corvette of the Russian Pacific Fleet has been deployed off Kamchatka in the Sea of Okhotsk for an artillery firing drill.
"In line with the fleet's plan, the military sailors will accomplish a number of combat training missions, including the firing of an A-190 100mm artillery system and AK-630M 30mm air defense artillery systems," the fleet press service said on Monday.
The corvette will fire at targets that simulate airborne weapons of the mock enemy, it said.
"The servicemen will train elements of a sea battle, deter an attack by a 'hostile' ship and destroy it by artillery fire," the press service said.
There will be signals and damage control drills, as well, it said.
Ilyushin Il-38 planes of the Pacific Fleet's marine aviation will support the artillery exercise.
