MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russian forces have taken the village of Nikolayevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) under control, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"During a successful offensive in the Donetsk theater of operations, volunteers from assault units, with fire support from missile and artillery forces of the southern group, liberated Nikolayevka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.
Up to 90 Ukrainian troops were killed and two armored infantry vehicles, two armored fighting vehicles, and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed in the Donetsk area over the past 24 hours, he said.
"In addition, a Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery ammunition depot and a storage of fuel for military hardware have been destroyed near Konstantinopol (DPR)," he said.
