BELGOROD. Feb 6 (Interfax) - A local woman died when the Ukrainian Armed Forces opened fire on the village of Kazinka, in Russia's Belgorod region, on Monday, the region's Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the village of Kazinka in the Valuiki urban district, causing civilian casualties. An outbuilding near a private house caught fire after it was hit by a shell. A 70-year-old woman died," Gladkov said on Telegram.

All emergency services and the district's head are working at the site, the governor said. Firefighters are already battling the blaze.

The Belgorod region's districts on the border with Ukraine have been shelled by the Ukrainian army since February 24, 2022, leading to fatalities and injuries among the local civilian population. Due to this, a high, yellow, terrorist threat alert was introduced in the Belgorod region. An emergency was declared in 15 populated localities near the border with Ukraine.
