BAMAKO. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Mali, an Interfax correspondent reported.
During his visit to the capital Bamako, Lavrov is expected to hold talks with Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop and meet with the country's transitional President Assimi Goita.
At their talks, the parties plan to discuss trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and bilateral contacts in fields such as development of mineral deposits, geological exploration, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Another topic on the agenda will be the practical aspects of the upcoming deliveries of Russian wheat, fertilizers and petroleum products to Mali, the ministry said.
The sides will also discuss ways to strengthen military and military-technical ties, the situation in Mali and regional issues, it said.
It is Lavrov's first trip to Mali. He will also visit Mauritania and Sudan later this week.
