Russian Pacific Fleet ships destroy mock enemy sub at drills in Primorye

VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Small anti-submarine ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet practiced searching for and destroying a mock enemy submarine during an exercise in the Peter the Great Gulf, the fleet's press service said.

"The Ust-Ulimsk and MPK-107 small anti-submarine ships spotted a mock enemy submarine and practiced elements of a sea battle with the submarine in conditions of active counteraction and attempts to escape during the exercise at the maritime training range," the press service said.

Ilyushin Il-38 aircraft of the Pacific Fleet's air force backed the small anti-submarine ships. Anti-submarine weapons were used to destroy the mock enemy sub.

The exercise took place in line with the fleet's plan of combat training in the Peter the Great Gulf.
