YEREVAN. Feb 7 (Interfax) - Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has said he is skeptical about the possible deployment of a Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border within a day or two.
"I am not sure there is such a possibility, considering that many CSTO member states are pursuing their own interests. I'm not sure any of them won't veto it. I have no knowledge of other details, because we have not been told any," Simonyan told reporters on Tuesday.
He also said that Yerevan demanded that the CSTO make a clear political assessment of Azerbaijan's aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.
"Still, they [the CSTO] have evaded even that. Truth be told, I am very skeptical about this [the deployment of a CSTO mission]," Simonyan said.
Russia did not support its own variant of settling Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, to which Armenia agreed, he said.
"Our allies have not supported this variant and are now disappointed by the Prague document, these are the questions that need to be raised," Simonyan said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in January that Moscow was still not ready to send a CSTO mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
