MINSK. Feb 7 (Interfax) - State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Alexander Volfovich has reported the delivery of Sukhoi Su-30SM planes and Mil Mi-35M helicopters to Belarus.
"Su-30SM planes have been commissioned, and their procurement is continuing, alongside Mi-8MVT-5 helicopters," Volfovich told reporters on Tuesday during a national security exercise of government agencies in Belarus. The state-run media outlet SB. Belarus Segodnya quoted his statement.
"The head of state and the government are doing everything possible so that forces and hardware of the country's military organization are ready and capable of combat and meet the latest requirements. For instance, the cutting-edge Iskander tactical missile system, which has no analogues in the world and operates on distances of over 500 kilometers, has recently been supplied to the Armed Forces. Our army is being provided with upgraded modern T72B3 tanks, which are as good as West European analogues, armored personnel carriers, electronic warfare stations, and radio-electronic intelligence systems," Volfovich said.
"All of that is meant for the protection of our state from various military threats," he said.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry reported the pending delivery of a squadron of Mi-35M helicopters and Su-30SM planes in early February.
Belarusian government bodies are taking part in a national security exercise on February 7-9. The exercise involves heads and officials of the Presidential Administration, the government, the State Secretariat of the Security Council, various ministries and departments and local authorities, alongside members of the National Assembly. They are practicing algorithms of government bodies' response to various situations, ranging from an emergency to a counterterrorist operation.
