TBILISI. Feb 8 (Interfax) - Former serviceman Badri Esebua, who perpetrated an armed attack on a Zugdidi office of the Bank of Georgia, taking over 40 hostages in October 2020, has been apprehended, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
Esebua, born in 1988, wanted for illegal procurement, possession and carrying of ammunition and firearms, perpetration of a terror attack, and taking of hostages for terrorist reasons, was detained in the Samegrelo district in western Georgia, the ministry said.
He faces up to 15 years of imprisonment, it said.
Firearms and ammunition were seized from the detainee, the ministry said.
