Russian missile ship practices artillery firing in Baltic Sea

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The Odintsovo small missile ship has practiced firing artillery guns during an exercise on repelling a simulated enemy's aerial attack and striking a sea target, the Baltic Fleet said on Wednesday.

"The ship practiced firing AK-630 and AK-176 ship-based artillery systems upon simulated aerial targets and special illuminating rounds fired by an Akatsia 152mm self-propelled howitzer from Cape Taran in the Kaliningrad region," it said.

The ship also "fired artillery upon a sea target imitating a floating mine planted by a simulated enemy" in the Baltic Sea, it said.

This was a scheduled exercise, it said.

"All safety and security norms and requirements were strictly observed during the artillery firing drills. Baltic Fleet surface ships and auxiliary vessels ensured their observance during the combat exercise," it said.
