KHARTOUM. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Sudan, an Interfax correspondent reported.
During his visit, Lavrov is expected to hold talks with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali al-Sadiq and to meet with Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
"The parties plan to discuss in detail key aspects of Russian-Sudanese multifaceted cooperation, as well as major international and regional problems with a focus on the need to search for political and diplomatic solutions to crisis situations in the Middle East and on the African continent," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.
During the upcoming meetings, significant attention will be given to preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, due to take place in St. Petersburg in July of this year, the ministry said.
Sudan is the last country on the Russian foreign minister's Middle East and Africa tour, which has also taken him to Iraq, Mali and Mauritania.
