MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - The potential of the United Kingdom providing Ukraine with fighter aircraft is a sign of London's growing involvement in the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists on Thursday asked Peskov to comment on the possibility that the UK might provide Ukraine with fighter aircraft following Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's speech at the British parliament.
"We perceive this as a growing involvement of the UK, Germany, and France in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The borderline between indirect and direct involvement is gradually vanishing. We can only express our regret in this respect and state that such steps on the part of said countries lead to an escalation of tensions surrounding this conflict, are protracting this conflict, and make this conflict more painful and tormenting for Ukraine," Peskov said.
Such steps "will not fundamentally change the outcome of this conflict and will not change the trajectory followed by" Russia "in terms of attaining its goals set within the framework of the special military operation," he said.
