Russian ombudsman asks her Ukrainian counterpart to facilitate transfer of 2 children of Russian citizens to Russia

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has asked her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Lubinets for assistance in the transfer of two children of Russian citizens left without relatives in Ukraine after their parents were arrested.

"I am addressing Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmitry Lubinets regarding the resolution of the issue of transferring these children to Russia. I have already sent this letter to him. Today I also sent documents confirming the kinship of the grandmother and her grandchildren," Moskalkova said on her Telegram channel on Monday.

Two Russian citizens were arrested in Odessa by Ukrainian security services on charges of "pro-Russian activities," after which their two young children were left without relatives in the country, the ombudsman said. However, their grandmother and aunt are willing to take them into their care in Russia.

"For our part, we are also assisting the Ukrainian side in reuniting children with their parents, grandmothers, grandfathers and relatives. The principle of humanism and mercy should be a priority in the work of ombudsmen," Moskalkova added.
