BANGALORE. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Competition on India's arms market has increased, and Moscow stands ready to offer technology transfers to Indian partners, Rosoboronexport head Alexander Mikheyev said.
"Competition on India's arms market has always been extremely high. And it has grown even more today because new producers of military products, which are actively offering their developments, including in India, appeared," Mikheyev told Interfax on the sidelines of the Aero India 2023 exhibition.
"Rosoboronexport has already proven in practice that we are ready to work amid the Indian government's new tough requirements regarding the localization of production and technology transfer and that we stand ready to launch production and train engineers and technical staff," he said.
Russia and India are discussing cooperation in a very broad range of issues related to all branches of the Armed Forces, Mikheyev said.
"Rosoboronexport's book of orders in India is at quite a high level today. It is calculated based not only on contracts on the delivery of weapons and military hardware, but also taking into account the implementation of agreements on joint and licensed production, the joint development of new samples and systems, and the use of the results of intellectual activity," he said.
Earlier, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugayev told Interfax that the book of India's orders for Russian weapons and military hardware exceeds $10 billion.
"Despite the unprecedented pressure on India by the U.S.-led Western countries due to the Russian special operation in Ukraine, it remains Russia's leading partner in the field of military-technical cooperation. The book of orders exceeds $10 billion," Shugayev said.
