MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The question of legal guarantees protecting businesspeople from prosecution is especially relevant in modern day Russia, President Vladimir Putin said.
"The judicial authority, through the practice of enforcing law, has always influenced the formation of a business- and investment-friendly climate in our country. Today, under conditions of sanctions aggression - you could not put it otherwise - against Russia, this is especially relevant. And in this respect, the question that arises again is one of legislative guarantees protecting entrepreneurs from unjustified criminal prosecution, including a ban on custody extension for economic crime suspects and the accused, and choosing for them non-incarceration measures such as bail or house arrest," Putin said at a conference of Russian common-law, military and arbitration judges on Tuesday.
This would foster "further humanization of justice," he said.
