YEREVAN. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Armenia has passed a final draft of the bilateral peace agreement for Azerbaijan's consideration, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
"Armenia finalized another stage of the work on a draft treaty on peace and establishment of relations with Azerbaijan yesterday, and our proposals were handed over to Azerbaijan. The draft of a final, full variant of the treaty with our proposals has been passed," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.
He said that the document was also presented to the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the United States.
"We are working on the draft agreement from the angle of such logic: so that we have a document we would be ready to sign any time. Clearly, this document should also be acceptable to Azerbaijan. We are hoping that progress affirmed as a result of three stages of negotiations can be developed," Pashinyan said.
The document should have such logic of agreements and such effective mechanisms of checks and balances that would rule out any scenario of a breach of sustainable peace and stability, he said.
"The idea is to prevent the signing of this agreement from evolving into a war on its basis. This may sound absurd, but this scenario is also possible. Quite the opposite, it should actually mean sustainable peace," Pashinyan said.
"I personally confirm my readiness and the government's readiness to sign an agreement of the kind. I am ready to undertake and bear such responsibility," he said.
