ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 16 (Interfax) - All drones that attacked Sevastopol on Thursday were shot down by Russian air defense systems over the sea, and several others were downed over the territory of the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said.
Razvozhayev said that the drone attack started at night. Air defense systems and the Black Sea Fleet downed two drones over the sea near Sevastopol.
"A few more unmanned aerial vehicles were downed over the sea in the area of the Republic of Crimea," he said.
Crimean authorities have not yet commented on the drone attack.
As reported, the Sevastopol roadstead was closed this morning. The city's governor said that two drones had been shot down.
Air defense engagements have been reported in Crimea and Sevastopol since August. They have mostly been countering small drones.
The high (yellow) level of terrorist threat and the state of medium-level response are in effect in Crimea and Sevastopol.
