Kyrgyzstan, U.S. share commitment to joint efforts to maintain security in C. Asia

BISHKEK. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev and United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared their commitment to continuing to work together to provide security in Central Asia at a Central Asia + U.S. Ministerial Meeting in Astana, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The parties emphasized their commitment to continued work in promoting regional stability and security in Central Asia," it said.

Kulubayev and Blinken discussed the bilateral agenda, promising avenues of cooperation, and joint interaction plans for 2023, it said.

"The parties highlighted the possibilities of strengthening trade and economic as well as investment cooperation," it said.

They also discussed ways to ease and facilitate the issuance of U.S. visas to Kyrgyz citizens, it said.

Kulubayev said Kyrgyzstan is interested in inviting U.S. companies to implement new technologies and advanced production methods in the green economy, energy, digitalization, and other areas of mutual interest, it said.

"The U.S. side welcomed Kyrgyz efforts to address interstate border issues as a contributor to strengthening regional stability and security," the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
