S. Ossetian, Georgian reps to discuss security, border issues at March 2 meeting

TSKHINVAL. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The next Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting will take place on the border between South Ossetia and Georgian on March 2, South Ossetian Deputy Presidential Representative for the Post-Conflict Settlement and head of the South Ossetian delegation in IPRM Yegor Kochiyev told Interfax.

The agenda remains the same, the main issue the South Ossetian side has been raising for several years now is the removal of the Georgian police post from the South Ossetian territory after its illegal deployment in late August 2019, Kochiyev said.

"The South Ossetia sees the solution to this issue only in the removal of the post. Security and state border violations will also be brought up during the meeting, and the overall situation in the region will be reviewed," he said.

The IPRM is intended to address the issues dealing with security on the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia. A hotline is also operating actively, and the parties contact each other in case of any incident.
