VLADIVOSTOK. March 1 (Interfax) - The Nikolai Vilkov landing ship of Russia's Pacific Fleet has taken part in the fleet marine's exercise in the Primorye Territory and has fired artillery at coastal targets, the fleet press service said.
"During the exercise, the ship approached the shore using an aerosol camouflage. As it came out of the smoke screen, artillery systems struck firing positions of the mock enemy, which were built on the beach to prevent landing," it said.
The artillery successfully hit coastal targets and allowed marines to deploy to the beach from the landing ship's twin deck, the press service said.
The marines trained seizing and holding the beach until the simulated arrival of an airborne force, it said.
