ASHGABAT. March 1 (Interfax) - Turkmen Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow and United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken have had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting in Astana to discuss the regional and international agenda and agreed to broaden cooperation to preserve regional stability, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
The diplomats reviewed a wide range of items on the bilateral, regional, and international agenda, the current situation in Afghanistan, and progress in the intra-Afghan dialogue, it said.
Meredow and Blinken agreed that a continued expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the Central Asian states and the U.S. is an important factor of sustainable socioeconomic development, peace, stability, and security in the region, it said.
The parties declared their interest in improving interaction within the C5+1 format.
