HAVANA. March 2 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and Cuba's Interior Minister Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas held security consultations in Havana on Wednesday to discuss cooperation between the two countries' special services, justice authorities and law enforcement agencies.
The parties discussed in detail cooperation in the field of information security and in efforts to deal with the aftermath of natural and industrial disasters, the press service for the Russian Security Council said. Cooperation in education, economy, science and technology was also on the agenda.
The consultations also touched upon the countries' joint efforts to counteract "color revolutions" and destructive activities of non-governmental organizations.
Patrushev and the Cuban interior minister exchanged views on global and regional stability, giving special attention to the two countries' collaboration in fighting drug and human trafficking, combating cross-border organized crime, and as part of the international search for wanted persons.
The Russian delegation to the consultations in Havana included officials of the Security Council's office, the Interior Ministry, the Emergency Situations Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
