GENEVA. March 2 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was planning to attend a session of the Disarmament Conference in Geneva but could not do so because of the EU sanctions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
"First of all, let me greet you on behalf of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov who was hoping to personally take part in the Disarmament Conference while in Geneva. Yet that turned out to be impossible because of the unlawful unilateral restrictions imposed by the European Union," Ryabkov said at the session.
Moscow views this as an attempt to avoid dialogue meant to strengthen global security and stability, he said.
