MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces shot down a Ukrainian Air Force Sukhoi Su-24 bomber aircraft over the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), a Su-25 assault plane over the Kherson region and a Mil Mi-8 helicopter over the DPR in the past day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.
"Fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Su-24 plane of the Ukrainian Air Force near the locality of Mikhailovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
"Air defense systems downed a Su-25 plane of the Ukrainian Air Force near Krynki in the Kherson region," he said.
A Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 helicopter was downed near Kurakhovka in the DPR, he said.
Russian air defense systems shot down one HIMARS system missile and 14 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the DPR, the Kharkov and Kherson regions in the past day, Konashenkov said.
"A total of 393 planes, 212 helicopters, 3,295 unmanned aerial vehicles, 407 air defense missile systems, 8,105 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,045 vehicles of multiple rocket launchers, 4,247 field artillery guns and mortars, and 8,665 special military automobiles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation," Konashenkov said.
