Number of civilians killed by saboteurs in Russia's Bryansk region rises to 2 - governor

VORONEZH. March 2 (Interfax) - Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz said the second civilian had been killed by saboteurs on Thursday.

"According to updated information, as a result of the actions of a sabotage and reconnaissance group in the village of Lubechane of the Klimovo district, the number of civilians killed increased to two. A man born in 1966 was killed. Operative services are taking necessary measures," he said on his Telegram channel.

It was previously reported about one civilian, who drove a passenger car, killed in the actions of a sabotage group in the village of Lubechane. In addition, a boy born in 2012 was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

The Russian Federal Security Service later said that measures were being taken to eliminate armed Ukrainian radicals in the Bryansk region's border district and to clear the area of mines.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the events that happened in Russia's Bryansk region on Thursday as a terror attack. While speaking at the opening ceremony of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor by video link, Putin described those events as "yet another terror attack, another crime."
