Russia denies Hungary visa-free travel on diplomatic passports

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian government has suspended the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental agreement on visa-free travel on diplomatic and service passports concerning citizens of Hungary who have diplomatic passports.

The corresponding order, dated March 1, was published on the official legal information portal.

"In accordance with Article 36 of the federal law On the International Treaties of the Russian Federation, the agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Hungary on visa-free travel on diplomatic and service passports signed in Moscow on June 14, 2001 is suspended a regards citizens of Hungary who have diplomatic passports until Hungary fixes its violations of obligations under this agreement or until its expiration," the document said.

In accordance with the order, the Russian Foreign Ministry has to send to Budapest a notice on the decision.
