Russia's Vice Admiral Kulakov destroyer conducts missile drills in Barents Sea

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Vice Admiral Kulakov carried out artillery strikes against mock enemy coastal targets and repulsed an air attack during an exercise in the Barents Sea, the Northern Fleet said on Thursday.

"The ship's combat crews practiced various types of shooting with the main caliber - the AK-100 artillery system - against visible and closed coastal targets located on the coast of the Rybachy Peninsula and imitating hostile firing points and command posts," it said.

The crew also conducted an air defense drill with anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, it said.

Last week the ship drilled a naval battle with a mock enemy and fired artillery against a towed seaborne screen.

The exercise locations were closed to civilian navigation and flights, the fleet said.

Vice Admiral Kulakov is a Project 1155 ship armed with antisubmarine missile systems, rocket-propelled bomb launchers, and other types of artillery and missile weapon.
