Russian Investigative Committee group en route to Bryansk region following Ukrainian saboteurs' attack

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - A team from the Russian Investigative Committee's central office is on its way to the Bryansk region to establish the circumstances of yesterday's infiltration by saboteurs from Ukrainian territory, the Investigative Committee said on Telegram on Thursday.

"Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin ordered an investigative group from the agency's central office, including forensic specialists and experts, to promptly leave for the site of the incident in the village of Lyubechane in the Klimovo district of the Bryansk region," it said.

"Law enforcement agencies are carrying out operational procedures in the aforementioned locality," the committee said.

Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz said on Thursday morning that Ukrainian saboteurs fired at an automobile in the Klimovo district. Two people were killed and a 10-year-old child was injured in the incident.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said that measures were being taken in the border district of the Bryansk region to eliminate armed Ukrainian radicals and to demine the area.

The FSB said later that the group of Ukrainian saboteurs "was pushed" from the Bryansk region back into Ukrainian territory, where an artillery strike was delivered on them.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has referred to the events in the Bryansk region as a terrorist attack.
