MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has reported an antiterrorism drill of a long-range aviation formation stationed in Engels, Saratov region.
"The Engels long-range aviation formation has had a comprehensive exercise with antiterrorism units. Blank munitions were used to create realistic environment. Over 50 troops and more than ten pieces of hardware took part in the training," the ministry said in a statement on its website on Friday.
"The dynamic episodes trained the prevention of a mock enemy's raid into the territory, sites and buildings of the aviation regiment and the blocking and elimination of reconnaissance and sabotage groups of the mock enemy," the statement said.
Medics from antiterrorism units trained evacuation of the "wounded," it said.
Long-range aviation is the airborne component of the Russian nuclear triad. Such planes can also carry conventional bombs and missiles, including cruise missiles.
