MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Bal coastal missile systems have trained the destruction of a mock enemy's ships during an exercise in Kamchatka, the press service for the Russian Pacific Fleet said on Monday.
"During the active stage of the exercise, Bal coastal missile systems trained the acquisition of targets and electronically-simulated a missile strike on a group of ships of the mock enemy," the press service said.
The units received coordinates of the surface ships from Ilyushin Il-38 aircraft of the Pacific Fleet's naval aviation, which took active part in the exercise, it said.
The servicemen also trained disguising and protecting military convoys, as well as deterring an attack of the mock enemy's reconnaissance-and-sabotage groups, the press service said.
More than 50 servicemen and about 12 vehicles and units of special equipment from the Kamchatka coastal missile formation took part in the exercise.
