MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - The Sovershenny corvette and naval aircraft have trained the search for and destruction of a mock enemy's submarine in the Peter the Great Gulf, the Russian Pacific Fleet said on Monday.
"According to the scenario, a unidentified submarine was detected in the designated area of the Sea of Japan. A Kamov Ka-27PL helicopter tracked down the mock enemy's submarine using a GAS submersible hydro-acoustic station," the fleet said.
Once contact with the sub was established, the Sovershenny "performed a successful training launch of depth charges and anti-sub torpedoes by the acquired coordinates," the fleet said.
The submarine was electronically simulated, it said.
