MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - The authorities of Russia and Syria maintain constant contacts, and considerable progress in countering terrorism was made in Syria thanks to the Russian military, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"We're in constant contact. Our relations are developing. Significant results in countering international terrorism were achieved in Syria thanks to our joint efforts and the decisive contribution of the Russian Armed Forces," he said at the start of a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday.
"It provides an opportunity to stabilize the socioeconomic and internal political situation," Putin said.
