MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - Sukhoi Su-30SM and Su-30SM2 planes of the Russian Baltic Fleet's air force are practicing destroying mock enemy targets in a tactical flight exercise in the Kaliningrad region, the fleet said in a statement on Monday.
"The participants are simulating the destruction of mock enemy military hardware convoys, command posts and troops, defense industry facilities, aircraft and mock enemy airborne and amphibious landing forces. They are also practicing providing fire support for units of the Baltic Fleet's Army Corps," the statement said.
The aircraft are practicing maneuvers during a simulated air-to-air encounter and reconnaissance and are using bombs and aircraft gun systems to strike mock enemy targets, it said.
"In all, the aircraft will have to engage more than 20 various targets, carry out launches of unguided airborne missiles and practice dropping bombs. In total, about 10 planes are taking part in the drills", it said.
The exercise were scheduled in advance, it said.
