MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - Russia's Graivoron, Vyshny Volochyok and Ingushetia small missile ships have conducted live-fire exercises against an above-water target in the sea, the Russian Black Sea Fleet said on Tuesday.
"The crews received a command to use weapons against a mock enemy ship. Under the scenario of the exercise, the mock enemy ship tried to install mine barriers along the itinerary of Black Sea Fleet ships," it said.
An unmanned aerial vehicle of the Black Sea Fleet's air force and air defense force sent reconnaissance data to the unit of small missile ships at sea.
"Upon receiving this information, the Graivoron, Vyshny Volochyok and Ingushetia small missile ships moved to the designated district, where they detected and destroyed the mock enemy ship. Artillery rounds accurately hit the ship-like screen imitating the mock enemy ship," the fleet said.
Meanwhile, the ships' artillery units also conducted a live-fire exercise targeting dummy floating mines, it said.
The routine drills were held at a training range in the Black Sea, the fleet said.
