MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - A possible telephone conversation between Xi Jinping and Ukraine's President Vladimir Zelensky is unlikely today or tomorrow because the Chinese leader is too busy with his current Moscow visit, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov told journalists on Tuesday.
"I know the Americans' reactions to a possibility of contact. The Americans said, we understand that Mr. Chinese president is currently too busy, busy with his visit to Russia. So I think, that's what's keeping him busy. I don't think there will be some conversation with Kiev today or tomorrow," Ushakov said.
Asked if such a phone call would be important for Russia in terms of resolving the Ukrainian crisis, he said: "In this context, this fact of a potential conversation does not matter at all. I don't even know if the Chinese side has confirmed this [conversation] or not."
Earlier, the Financial Times newspaper reported, citing a source familiar with the situation, that Xi could phone to Zelensky after the Moscow visit.
