MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Two mortar squads of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been eliminated near Maryinka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), spokesman for Russia's southern group of forces Ivan Bigma said.
"In the vicinity of Maryinka, a reconnaissance unit spotted two enemy mortar squads, which were delivering strikes on assault groups. Both mortar squads were eliminated by a strike from Msta-S self-propelled howitzers, thus enabling assault groups to dislodge the enemy and take control of a fortified area," Bigma said.
In the Avdeyevka sector, an artillery brigade of the Firth Army Corps, using thermal sights, detected an overnight attempt by Ukrainian troops to change positions and delivered a strike on them, he said.
As a result, six Ukrainian troops were killed, he said.
