MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has submitted a bill to the State Duma empowering the government to determine financial institutions authorized to transfer monetary allowances and wages to the Russian Armed Forces' military service members and civilian personnel, Deputy Defense Minister Tatyana Shevtsova said.
"The bill empowers the government to determine financial institutions transferring monetary allowances, wages, and other payments to military service members and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces," Shevtsova said while presenting the legislation at the Duma on Tuesday.
The bill stipulates that monetary allowances, wages, and other payments to personnel shall be transferred by the Russian Central Bank's field entities and financial institutions determined by the Russian government based on contracts concluded between the Defense Ministry and the Central Bank at no charge.
"This would ensure the protection of information on the stationing sites of military units and the personnel's personal data," Shevtsova said.
The bill has been cleared with federal executive bodies concerned, Shevtsova said. She asked the parliamentarians to support the legislation, which requires that amendments be made to the law On Defense.
